Can I Improve my EPC with Multifoil Insulation?

Yes – You can improve your Energy Performance Certificate rating, with Multifoil Insulation. Specifically, if you use one of our certified multifoil insulation products – this contributes to an EPC improvement. We will detail a few of these specific products later, after briefly describing what an EPC is.

What is an EPC?

An EPC refers to the Energy Performance Certificate, which determines how energy efficient a property is. The ratings range from A to G, with an A result being the most efficient and G being the least.

Different things contribute to your rating, improvements give you different ‘points’ if you have over 92 points, your property will be classified as an ‘A’ – if you have under 20 points, you will be classified as a G.

What Multifoil Insulation products contribute to your EPC?

Any of our certified products are recognised by the EPC assessors, namely SuperQuilt Insulation, BreatherQuilt Insulation, SuperQuilt Trade, SuperQuilt Lite, AirTec

How can you ensure your Insulation is recognised, in your EPC?

Your assessor will want to know what has been installed, so especially if the insulation will not be visible, for example if you have boarded over it then we recommend the below to ensure your reap the benefits on your certificate.

  • Ask us or download the Data Sheet – this will tell the assessor the product contributes to the score, as it will state its accreditations.
  • Keep the invoice – likely not required, but either the invoice or data sheet just in case they want to know what the product is would be handy
  • Take some images of the install (especially if boarding over / if the insulation will be hidden when the assessor arrives)
Why do I need an EPC?

You need an EPC when selling your home, your solicitor cannot legally complete your sale unless you have an EPC.  Prospective buyers will be looking for good ratings, due to the cost of energy.

It is important to try to improve your EPC, as a better grade signifies lower utility bills and a reduced environmental impact. This is a really attractive point for prospective buyers

For those with rental properties, there is also now a requirement to have an EPC. In 2025, as someone who lets a property, you will need to have at least a C rating.

The beauty of installing multifoils is that you can actually in many cases install it yourself, so you save on cost. There are also other benefits to Multifoils for example they are lower cost, compared to traditional insulation and they also save on labour time too.
