EcoPro Foam – The Low-E Alternative

EcoPro Foam and Low-E align in terms of their thermal and vapour control properties, however EcoPro Foam is more cost effective. EcoPro Foam – The Low-E Alternative, provides dual benefits. It effectively insulates and acts as a vapour control layer, when taped and sealed around the joints and edges (with our Thermaseal Foil Joining Tape ) which is included in the kit.

EcoPro Foam – Vapour Control Layer

As the EcoPro Foam provides a VCL it safeguards you against damaging the structure, without this – the moisture rich air can penetrate and can cause condensation which in turn can cause damp and mould. This makes the Low-E alternative; EcoPro Foam a perfect product for numerous applications, where condensation and damp cause issues.

EcoPro Foam – Thermal Performance

In terms of the thermal benefits that the EcoPro Foam offers – it prevents draughts and retains your heat energy. In short, this will reduce cold bridging. What this means is that your heat will not escape and instead, you’ll see a reduction in your energy bills.

Normally, when the radiant heat from your radiators or the sun hits a surface, it can be absorbed and conducts onto the other side. What this means for your home is that if you are using your radiators and have uninsulated walls or an uninsulated ceiling or loft for example – you are effectively paying for heat that is escaping as its being absorbed. This is specifically what the EcoPro Foam tackles, as its an effective barrier against this absorption.

The speed in which your heat energy is absorbed depends on a surfaces emissivity. For example – brick and concrete have a high emissivity (exceeding 90%) where as the reflective foil on our EcoPro Foam has an exceptionally low emissivity value of around 0.03 to 0.5, which means just 3%-5% of the radiant heat can pass through.

The EcoPro Foam is also highly effective during the summer months,  as it reflects excess heat away from your home too – so you can benefit from a nice ambient temperature 365 days a year.

expand_circle_down Q&As

Do I need to tape and seal around the edges?

By taping and sealing around the edges and joints with our Thermaseal Foil Joining Tape you will create a vapour control layer.

What is the best way to cut EcoPro Foam - Low-E Alternative?

We would recommend cutting with either Multifoil Scissors or a Cutting Knife. Both are available in our Multifoil Fitting Kit.

How can I install this?

You can install with our Thermaseal Double Sided Tape or a non solvent adhesive if going on a wall (without an air gap) / floor. Or, if you've installed battens to create an air gap and add to the thermal performance we recommend stapling, with our heavy duty staple gun kit.

Can I plasterboard on top?

Absolutely, you can either plasterboard directly on top or you can install battens prior to installing plasterboard. This will further enhance the performance of the product.
