Meet Current Roof U-Value Insulation Regulations

The new government part L documents U-value recommendations have increased to 0.15 from 0.18 for flat and pitched roofs. This has made it increasingly difficult to achieve the target U-value and is likely to take up excessive space as well as cost too much money.

This is why we’ve created a complete system named TrioQuilt which is a three part system consisting of two fully accredited products, suitable for both pitched and flat roofs. This system will achieve a U-value of 0.15 this is the most common U-value required for refurnishments and extension projects in the UK. (2022 onwards)

Here is a breakdown of what’s included in our TrioQuilt – 0.15 Roof Insulation System;

EcoLoft Non-Itch – 1x layer in-between rafters 

YBS SuperQuilt – 2x layers internal of rafters

This is a proven system that will save massively on cost compared to using Rigid PIR Insulation. In addition, labour time is significantly saved due to no need to cut the insulation to fit between the rafters.

What’s included in our TrioQuilt – 0.15 Roof Insulation System?

• 2x layers if YBS SuperQuilt (15m2 / 1.5m x 10m Rolls)
• 1 x Layer of 100mm EcoLoft Non-Itch (9.12m2 per pack) – Available in two widths – 380mm or 570mm
• Adequate Thermaseal Foil joining Tape (75mm x 50m per roll)

Main Benefits of the TrioQuilt System

Firstly, an additional Vapour Control Layer (VCL) isn’t required due to the SuperQuilt having a built-in VCL once it’s fully taped and sealed. Both the SuperQuilt and EcoLoft Non-Itch are free of any itchy or harmful fibers. So no PPE or protective clothing is required to install this system. You can save massively on installation time because you don’t need to cut a Rigid PIR Board to fit in between the rafters (such as Kingspan or Celotex). This system is also a great space-saving option for anyone looking to meet building regulation but concerned about height.  A FREE gift is also available at checkout for any orders that are 30m2 Kit or greater. Lastly, you’ll always hit the 0.15 U-value specified by the government document Part L for both pitched and flat roofs.

Recommended Installation

• Breather membrane, tile batten & slate/tiles fitted from the outside.
• From internal, install 100mm EcoLoft Non-Itch (centrally) in rafters.
• Staple the first layer of SuperQuilt taut under the rafters.
• Fix 25mm deep battens.
• Staple the second layer of SuperQuilt taut under battens.
• Fix 25mm deep battens.
• lastly finish with Standard Plasterboard.

Note – the above installation is based on pitched roof details, 150mm rafters or greater.
