How to Install Foil-Tec Single (Roof Installation)

This how-to guide details how you can install Foil-Tec Single VCL. Specifically, we focus on the roof application, under rafter — but you can also benefit from using this product on walls too.

This is a step-by-step installation guide. It details how you can install our Foil-Tec Single VCL in a roof application.

When you install our corrosion-resistant, reflective, and robust vapour control layer, you'll benefit from both its condensation control and thermal benefits. It surpasses the conventional vapour control layer, owing to it providing strength and reflective thermal properties in addition to vapour control.

Roll Over the Rafters

You can install the Foil-Tec Single VCL by rolling it directly over the roof rafters.

You can choose whether to install it vertically or horizontally, depending on your roof height.

Pull Taut and Staple

Ensure the foil is facing the adjacent air space. Pull the Foil-Tec Single VCL tight and staple it into place onto the roof rafters.

Tape and Seal

To ensure you benefit from the vapour control layer, tape and seal all around the edges and joints using our ThermaSeal Foil Joining Tape.

Fix Counter Battens If Required

If you do not have an air cavity between the rafters, we recommend installing battens horizontally (25 x 38mm) at 600mm centres.

Install Your Chosen Finish

You can then follow with plasterboarding.
