Loft Storage Stilts

Loft Storage Stilts allow you to create a raised boarded storage area above your loft insulation without compressing it.

By raising the boards above the insulation, the stilts help maintain the required insulation depth and air space, allowing the insulation to retain its thermal performance while giving you practical loft storage.

Create Loft Storage Without Compressing Insulation

Placing storage boards or heavy items directly onto loft insulation can compress the material and reduce its effectiveness.

Loft Storage Stilts raise the boarded floor above the insulation, helping protect its insulating properties while creating a strong and practical storage area.

The 200mm high stilts provide enough additional depth to accommodate the recommended 270mm of wool insulation within and above standard loft joists.

How Many Loft Storage Stilts Do I Need?

Loft Storage Stilts are available in two pack sizes.

Pack of 12

A pack of 12 stilts can support up to approximately 2.88m² of boarded loft storage space.

Pack of 32

The larger pack of 32 stilts is ideal for creating bigger boarded storage areas within your loft.

Loft Storage Stilt Installation

The stilts are designed for straightforward installation onto existing loft joists.

Fix each stilt using suitable self tapping screws measuring approximately 30mm x 4mm or 8 x 3/4 inch.

They are suitable for most timber joists between 35mm and 52.5mm wide.

Suitable Loft Boarding

Loft Storage Stilts can be used with:

1200mm x 325mm loft panels

600mm x 2400mm floor grade boards

This allows you to create a raised and secure storage platform while keeping the insulation beneath protected.

Maximum Weight Loading

The recommended maximum loading is 50kg per square metre.

Before installation, always ensure the existing loft structure and joists are capable of supporting the additional weight of the boards and anything being stored above them.
