How To install the EcoPro Summerhouse Insulation Kit

This step by step guide explains how to insulate a summerhouse, garden room, garden office or timber building using our high performing EcoPro Summerhouse Insulation Kit.

EcoPro is a flexible 6 layer multifoil insulation blanket designed to help keep your garden building warmer in winter and cooler in summer. At approximately 15mm thick when open and around 6mm when installed, it provides thermal performance comparable to approximately 50mm of rigid insulation or 100mm of mineral wool.

Measure and Cut the Insulation

Start at one side of the roof and measure the length of EcoPro required. Roll out the insulation and cut it neatly to size using the cutting knife provided or Multifoil Insulation Scissors.

Leave enough material at the edges to allow the insulation to be fully sealed around the perimeter.

Staple to the Roof Rafters

Position the EcoPro beneath the roof rafters and staple it securely into place using the Heavy Duty Staple Gun and 14mm staples provided.

Pull the insulation taut as you work across the roof, keeping the material flat and evenly positioned.

EcoPro works best with an air gap. Aim to maintain a minimum 25mm air gap where possible.

Tape and Seal the Roof

Once the EcoPro has been installed, fully tape all 50mm overlaps using ThermaSeal Foil Tape.

Seal around the entire perimeter and any other junctions or penetrations to create a continuous airtight layer.

Install the Roof Counter Battens

If you are covering the EcoPro with plasterboard, timber cladding or another internal finish, fix minimum 25mm counter battens through the insulation and securely into the rafters.

Your chosen internal finish can then be fixed directly to the battens.

Insulate the Walls

If your summerhouse already has timber studs, position the EcoPro between them and recess the insulation part way into the cavity.

Staple the EcoPro to the sides of the timber studs, keeping the material taut and leaving an air gap either side where possible.

Continue around the walls, overlapping adjoining sections by approximately 50mm.

If your building does not already have suitable timber studs, install timber battens first to create the required fixing points and air space.

Tape and Seal the Walls

Once all the EcoPro is in position, fully tape the 50mm overlaps using ThermaSeal Foil Tape.

Seal around the perimeter of the walls and around windows, doors and other openings to create a continuous insulated and airtight layer.

Counter Batten and Install Your Finish

Fix minimum 25mm counter battens through the EcoPro and into the timber studs behind.

Once secured, install your chosen internal finish such as plasterboard, timber cladding or decorative wall panels.

Your summerhouse or garden room is now insulated and ready to use throughout the year.

If you are also using EcoPro to insulate the floor, tape and seal around the perimeter but leave the overlapping floor joints untaped to allow any moisture beneath the floor to escape.
